Autumn is a beautiful time of the year!! There are lots of different colours to be seen everywhere. The leaves are whirling in the wind and make a crunchy noise when we walk on them. On our Nature Walk we saw lots of trees such as the Oak, Beech, Sycamore and Horse Chestnut. Their leaves have different shapes and they have different fruits! We will keep our eyes wide open and see if we can spot any acorns and conkers about the place for our nature table!! We are learning a poem as Gaeilge at the moment called 'Duilleoga Deasa Deasa' and we have great fun pretending to be leaves whilst saying it!!!!

We are learning lots of new dance moves with Fabienne our dance teacher! We are dancing together to songs that are in the charts and learning all the latest hip hop moves. We are moving our legs, arms and waist to the music. We use lots of energy dancing and perspire so we know it's important to take a drink of water after to re-charge our batteries and get back on that dancefloor!!!!

Magnet Mania!!!
A scientist visited our school and allowed us to experiment with magnets! We had lots of fun exploring how magnets attract magnetic materials, such as iron and steel. They come in all shapes and sizes. We got to share the fun with our friends in Ms. Joyce's First Class also!
Our Autumn Walk! Sept '10
We learned about different types of trees during the week in school. Deciduous trees lose their leaves in Autumn. They turn into lovely, warm colours such as red, orange and gold! They crunch under our feet as we walk on them. Different trees have different shapes and fruit so we went on a walk around our school to investigate what trees are growing in the area!! We found lots of exciting things some of which we brought back to our nature table. Evergreen trees don't lose their leaves which is good because we will need them at Christmas to hang decorations off!!

Oh Susanna!

We learned the song 'Oh Susanna'. It is a march. When soldiers were away at war they used to sing songs about their loved ones when they were marching. We marched around our classroom to the beat singing this song pretending to be soldiers! When we listened to the song we could hear a banjo playing along and even got to hold a real one and pluck the strings using a plectrum. We could feel the vibrations the strings made when we plucked them also! It was lots of fun!!
