Junior Achievement

Today we were all given certificates to say we have completed the "Our Families" project in Junior Achievement. Every Tuesday for the past few weeks a volunteer from GMIT called June has been coming into us to talk all about our families' Needs and Wants. We now know the difference between a 'Need' and 'Want' . We learned lots about our families jobs and how important they all are. We also learned how we pay for our families' needs and wants. June told us that it is good to save our money so we can buy nice things later! This sounds like a good idea!! During our lessons we did lots of nice activities and looked for street signs in our large Junior Achievement poster! We had so much - we will miss June lots!

Our Visit from Mr. Bubbles!!!

A few weeks ago Mr. Bubbles came to our school! He set up a table in the hall and showed us lots of things that bubbles can do. We sat quietly and used our listening ears and watching eyes. We learned that bubbles have ALL the colours of the rainbow. Did you know that bubbles look like spheres in shape? Mr. Bubbles also managed to bounce one bubble onto another!!! This was like magic!! He then filled one up with smoke and this looked like a cloud! By waving his hands gently beside a bubble he stopped it from crashing to the ground and going POP!! We enjoyed looking at all his bubble tricks!!

HAPPY HALLOWE'EN!!!!!

Today is our last day before the midterm break. We had a great day packed with lots of fun! We all came dressed in our scary costumes and gave our teacher a big fright! In the morning we walked all around Renmore in our costumes for our sponsored "Witches Walk" and we would like to thank everybody that donated, we are very grateful! We performed our "Thriller" dance for our parents and the children in Scoil ChaitrĂona Senior!! We really enjoyed our day and can't wait to go Trick'or'Treating on Monday!!!

We love Autumn!!!

Autumn is a beautiful time of the year!! There are lots of different colours to be seen everywhere. The leaves are whirling in the wind and make a crunchy noise when we walk on them. On our Nature Walk we saw lots of trees such as the Oak, Beech, Sycamore and Horse Chestnut. Their leaves have different shapes and they have different fruits! We will keep our eyes wide open and see if we can spot any acorns and conkers about the place for our nature table!! We are learning a poem as Gaeilge at the moment called 'Duilleoga Deasa Deasa' and we have great fun pretending to be leaves whilst saying it!!!!

"Hello!" - from First Class in Room 10

We are getting older! This year we are in First Class and we have to stay at school an hour longer each day! We have a new teacher and a new classroom, it is all very exciting! We hope to learn lots of new things and have a fun year at school!!!

Spring Time!

Over the past couple of months we have been learning all about Spring! It is a lovely time of year. Buds start appearing on the trees, beautiful flowers begin to bloom and even the sleepy animals wake up from their hibernation! If we take a drive in the country we can even spot some baby lambs running about :) There are lots of Saints and feast days to celebrate also, we are having lots of fun this month! We talked a about the frog and it's life cycle - we even made some frogs in a pond...they were quite naughty sticking their tongues out on the corridor! Check out our art displays and see what we've been getting up to!!!

Hip Hop!

We are learning lots of new dance moves with Fabienne our dance teacher! We are dancing together to songs that are in the charts and learning all the latest hip hop moves. We are moving our legs, arms and waist to the music. We use lots of energy dancing and perspire so we know it's important to take a drink of water after to re-charge our batteries and get back on that dancefloor!!!!

Magnet Mania!!!

A scientist visited our school and allowed us to experiment with magnets! We had lots of fun exploring how magnets attract magnetic materials, such as iron and steel. They come in all shapes and sizes. We got to share the fun with our friends in Ms. Joyce's First Class also!
